Introduction

In line with our commitment to sustainability, we have already achieved several carbon reductions through initiatives such as:

  • Composting: Minimising food waste by composting organic waste at our sites.

  • Grow Towers: Implementing in-house grow towers to grow fresh ingredients, reducing the need for external deliveries.

  • Supplier Collaboration: We work closely with Welsh suppliers, sourcing local ingredients to minimise transportation-related emissions, ensuring that the majority of our ingredients come from within Wales.

Targets and Reduction Strategy

Short-Term Targets (By 2025)

  • Scope 1:

    • Reduce fuel consumption by 15% through fleet optimisation and adoption of more fuel-efficient or hybrid vehicles.

    • Start a phased transition to electric vehicles where operationally feasible.

  • Scope 2:

    • At our Head Office, switch to 100% renewable electricity and implement energy efficiency measures such as improved insulation, LED lighting, and smart meters.

    • At Client Sites, although we do not control electricity usage, we will work collaboratively with our clients to advise and support the adoption of energy-saving initiatives wherever possible.

  • Scope 3:

    • Track emissions from suppliers and work with them to develop reduction plans, focusing on deliveries and sustainable sourcing.

    • Reduce food waste by 20% through enhanced composting and optimisation of our Grow Towers to increase in-house ingredient production.

    • Collaborate with our Welsh suppliers to further reduce delivery frequencies, using local sources to minimise transport-related emissions.

Medium-Term Targets (By 2030)

  • Scope 1:

    • Achieve a 50% reduction in fuel consumption by fully transitioning to electric or low-carbon vehicles across our fleet.

  • Scope 2:

    • Maintain 100% renewable electricity at our head office and continue to implement best practices in energy efficiency.

    • Continue working closely with clients to promote energy-efficient solutions at their sites, where applicable.

  • Scope 3:

    • Engage with major suppliers to ensure they also adopt science-based targets to reduce emissions by 40% by 2030.

    • Expand the use of local, Welsh suppliers to further reduce food miles and support the local economy.

    • Work with suppliers to minimise the frequency of deliveries by optimising order sizes and coordinating deliveries from multiple sources when feasible.

    • All equipment owned by our company (such as kitchen appliances) will be reviewed and replaced by 2030 with energy-efficient alternatives where they are not already in place.

Long-Term Targets (By 2050)

  • Scope 1:

    • Achieve net zero direct emissions by fully transitioning to zero-emission vehicles and eliminating on-site fossil fuel use.

  • Scope 2:

    • Continue using 100% renewable energy at the head office and maintain the highest standards of energy efficiency.

    • Work with all clients to implement net-zero energy strategies where possible.

  • Scope 3:

    • Achieve net zero across our entire value chain by working closely with all suppliers to ensure they follow net-zero pathways.

    • Continue reducing waste by 90% through full-scale food waste composting, recycling, and minimising unnecessary packaging.

    • Maintain local sourcing of ingredients and ensure all products are delivered with minimal environmental impact.

Key Initiatives Supporting Our Targets

  • Composting and Food Waste: We will continue to build on our current composting efforts to ensure food waste is minimised at all locations, while also promoting the reduction of waste across our operations.

  • Grow Towers: By expanding the use of in-house Grow Towers, we aim to further reduce dependency on external suppliers for fresh produce, cutting down on both food miles and packaging waste.

  • Welsh Suppliers: We are committed to supporting local Welsh agriculture and businesses by prioritising ingredients from Welsh suppliers, reducing our environmental impact from transportation and delivery logistics.

  • Supplier Engagement: We will actively engage with our suppliers to ensure they adopt sustainable practices and help them set science-based emissions targets, contributing to the reduction of Scope 3 emissions

Monitoring and Compliance

All targets are set in line with our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ensuring we consistently monitor and measure our progress against environmental objectives. We will conduct annual reviews of our carbon footprint, reassess targets, and adjust our strategies as needed to ensure we stay on track towards net zero by 2050.We will continue to issue annual progress reports to ensure transparency with our clients and stakeholders.
